Lee Chambers Breaks It Down

Running back Lee Chambers out of Coffeeville High School (Coffeeville, MS) is one of the top overall prospects that the Magnolia State has to offer this year. The 5'11, 180 lb. star carried the ball 178 times for 1,543 yards and 19 touchdowns in his junior season. He has seen his stock soar in recent months, and his offer total has reached an even dozen.

Some of the schools that have extended offers to Chambers include Alabama, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Southern Mississippi. However, four of those lucky schools comprise his top four.

"Mississippi State, South Carolina, Miami, and Michigan are my favorites right now."

Chambers took the time to detail what he likes about each of the schools in his top four.

Mississippi State – "I went down there on an unofficial visit, and they made me feel like I was at home. I had football players coming up to me like I was already a part of their team."

South Carolina – "I have a good relationship with their running backs coach, Robert Gillespie. I think it's good for you to have a good relationship with your positional coach."

Michigan and Miami – "The reason I like those two so much is because they are big time programs. I'd get a lot of TV time, because they are aired on TV a lot. That would be big time. I'd get to play for a national championship almost every year. That's why I'm interested in them."

However, one of the schools stands above the rest in the battle for Chambers services.

"Mississippi State stands out a little right now."

Chambers, who has been clocked at 4.38 seconds in the forty yard dash, plans on making a few unofficial visits this summer, as well as camping at one school.

"I plan on making unofficial visits to Miami and South Carolina, and I plan on attending a camp at Alabama."

The talented back plans on attending the season opening contest between Mississippi State and South Carolina on August 31, but he may have his decision made by that time.

"I'd like to make my decision before my season starts."

Chambers was asked to describe his strengths as a player, as well as any areas he would like to improve on."

"The main things that I have are speed and vision. I have great vision, and I see what a lot of people don't see. I'm able to cut on a dime. I'm also very strong and durable too. I'd still like to improve my size and get over 200 pounds."

Coaches around the country can rest easy, because Chambers is also looking good academically heading into his senior year.

"I'm looking great academically. I have a 2.8 GPA and a 16 on the ACT. I'm taking it (the ACT) again on June 10."

Chambers finished by expressing a couple of goals that he would like to accomplish in his upcoming senior season.

"My senior year I just want to be a leader and get the younger guys involved. We lost a big crop of seniors last year, so I just want to be a leader and lead these young players to a championship."
