A.J. Green: One Team Leads

Summerville (S.C.) wide receiver A.J. Green is one of the top rising junior prospects in the nation for the class of 2008. In his sophomore campaign, Green hauled in 75 receptions for 1,422 yards and 16 touchdowns while leading his team to the state finals and the talented Lowcountry product has already collected offers from several of the nation's top programs.

"Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, Maryland, Miami, Florida State, and others have offered me," A.J. Green said.

Despite being early in the recruiting process, the 6'3, 190 pound Green already claims a favorite for his services.

"Georgia is my favorite right now, but I'm not going to call anybody out of the picture."

Green visited Georgia earlier this spring and a couple aspects of the Georgia program stood out to him.

"The academic facilities and the weight room are really nice, and the coaching staff is great."

Green, who recently helped lead his Summerville team to the championship of South Carolina's 7 on 7 passing tournament, also commented on the home state Gamecocks.

"I really like Coach Spurrier's offense, and they throw the ball a lot. There's a lot to like about them."

Green says he's enjoying the recruiting process right now and will make his decision sometime next year. However, Green still has a lot of high school football left to play, and he has set a high standard for his upcoming junior season.

"I'm going to try and reach 2,000 yards receiving this year."
