Gamecocks In The Mix For 4-Star DB

Chaminade (Hollywood, FL) cornerback Akeem Auguste is one of the top overall prospects in the Sunshine State this year. The Scout.com 4-star prospect is rated as the #20 cornerback in America, and not surprisingly, he has been tendered offers by several of the top programs in the nation.

His offer list includes Auburn, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Mississippi, Pittsburgh, and Virginia, however the 5'11, 175 pound speedster has narrowed his list down to four lucky schools.

"I have a top four of Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and South Carolina."

Akeem Auguste, who runs a 4.4 forty yard dash, described what he likes about each of his favorite schools.

South Carolina - "I feel like I could play when I come in."

Florida - "I feel like I could play when I come in there too."

Florida State - "I just like the whole scenery and everything about Tallahassee."

Auburn - "I feel at home up there in Alabama and stuff."

The star cornerback is planning on taking his official visits, but he does not have any dates set just yet. Auguste also said he does not have a timeframe for making his college choice, but a couple of factors will play into his decision.

"Playing time, and I guess my mom and my coaches will help me decide what's best for me."

Auguste, who totaled 7 interceptions last season, took the time to describe his strengths as a player.

"I'm a great cover guy and I've got a lot of speed."

While picking a college destination may not be a priority right now, Auguste does have one, clear goal in mind heading into his senior season.

"I just want to go back to back to be honest. I want to win another state championship."
