With already two full media days this past week, which involved question after question for Steve Spurrier and interview after interview with the different Carolina players, Gamecock faithful should be all caught up on everything and everyone, right? Wrong.

This past Tuesday Gamecock Anthem's Will Lacey introduced South Carolina fans to a man who sent all of the other media sources scrambling and Gamecock enthusiasts salivating for more.

Nathaniel Wallace will not play a down in the 2006 season for South Carolina, but the big man has already drawn intrigue and wonderment fit for a starter. At 6'7 and 270 lbs, this transfer from Presbyterian College might just be the hidden jewel that coaches dream about.

When I spoke to Nathaniel Friday night he expressed to me how eager he was to get things rolling. "I'm here in Columbia now and I'm ready for the Fall semester. I'm ready to contribute to this team in any capacity that will make the team better and me better."

Wallace who hails from the nationally noted Bolles High School in Jacksonville, Florida, did not play football until his senior year. He is also using the fall semester to help him continue his rehabilitation from the successful ankle surgery in which doctors repaired his peroneal tendon.

"Coach Womack and Coach Nix have been great; I'm looking forward to playing for them and being the best team player possible. Although I played defensive end, I hope to possibly get a chance at tight end as well."

One of the things that will surprise people about big Nathaniel is his good foot work and foot speed. Most of this can be attributed to his days playing AAU Basketball. "Basketball made me a more versatile athlete; it has helped me with my quickness." he said.

When it is all said and done, Nathaniel might have found a team where he can finally showcase his talents, and the Gamecocks might have gotten them someone that is rare to find these days in a world which is known now more than ever for uncovering the covered: a secret weapon.
