Jasper Brinkley: "It Was Just Execution"
Question: Were you worried there at the end?
Answer: Yeah, just a little bit. Some of the mistakes we were making, there just was no reason for them. We were a little [nervous]. We just knew that everybody had to buckle down and make a play.
Question: What happened to the defense in the second half?
Answer: In the first half we were fundamentally sound, whereas in the second half we started making a lot of mental mistakes.
Question: How hard was it to prepare for the option attack?
Answer: It was very hard because any time you play a team that runs the option as well as Wofford does, one missed tackle can lead to a touchdown. As you saw in the game, we did miss a tackle, and the same thing happened [a touchdown].
Question: Was it the game plan or execution that caused the trouble for you?
Answer: It was just the execution. When a team runs the option as well as they do, one mistake: you not taking your man that you are accountable for, and they are down the field.
Question: Were you expecting this kind of effort from a Division I-AA team?
Answer: Yes. Anytime a Division I-AA team gets to play a I-A team and a big time program, they're going to give it everything they've got. They played hard. I have so much respect for Wofford because of the way they played. They played with so much intensity. You can't ask for nothing better than that from an opponent. We had some mistakes. It's hard to play the option when they run it so good. One mistake and you can be losing seven points.
