Lecorn Gears Up For Official Visit To USC
With such a rare combination of talent, it's no wonder that he has warranted offers from some of the top schools in the southeast and beyond.
"I have offers from South Carolina, LSU, Illinois, Tennessee, Nebraska, UCF, USF, N.C. State, Ole Miss, and others."
However, Lecorn stated that three lucky schools stand above the rest right now.
"South Carolina, LSU, and probably the University of Florida. They haven't offered me yet, but they've been talking to me strong."
Lecorn, who has been timed running a blazing 4.4 second forty yard dash, described what he likes about each of his three favorites.
South Carolina – "I like Spurrier. I like the way he runs his offense, and I'm a receiver, so I know I'm going to get the ball a lot in his offense."
LSU – "I just like their team and everything. They're just a good overall team that plays good."
Florida – "It's right next to home. I grew up liking them when Spurrier was there, and they're a winning team."
The talented Sunshine State prospect is going to be making an official visit to South Carolina this weekend with teammate Antonio Allen, and Lecorn described what he is looking forward to the most about his trip to Columbia.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how Columbia is. It's going to be my first time being down there seeing what the college and everything looks like, and meeting all the coaches and players."
The Gamecocks will surely roll out the red carpet for the talented receiver this weekend, but Lecorn plans on taking a few more visits before thinking about a timeframe for a decision.
"I just want to take a few more visits and see how all the colleges are. Then I'll commit as soon as I can."
One factor that may play into his decision is his relationship with Allen, as the two high school teammates have strongly considered playing their college football together.
"Yeah, we have been talking about that. We've been trying to stay to the same place."
According to Lecorn, Steve Spurrier Jr. has done an excellent job recruiting him thus far, and he took the time to describe his relationship with his recruiter and potential position coach at South Carolina.
"I like him. He's a good person. I talk to him a lot, and I feel like we've got a good relationship already."
Lecorn, who totaled 59 catches for 1,151 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2005, is off to another stellar start in his senior season at Trinity Catholic.
"It's going alright so far, it's going pretty good. We're undefeated, and right now I've got 15 catches for around 250 yards and 4 touchdowns."
The Scout.com 4-star rated prospect has gotten to know several other prospects during the recruiting process, and he mentioned two fellow Sunshine State stars that he has kept in touch with.
"I call Deonte Thompson every once in a while, and I've been trying to get a hold of Stephen Garcia too."
When asked to describe himself as a player, Lecorn stated what opposing defenses already know all too well.
"I'm physical, fast, and a playmaker."
Lastly, Lecorn took the time to describe himself as a person off the football field.
"I'm just a good all around person. I've got a good personality, and a lot of people like me."
