Gamecocks To Host Impressive List of Visitors

The South Carolina football team will play host to the Arkansas Razorbacks this weekend in a critical conference showdown, but off the field, the Gamecocks will welcome an impressive list of visiting prospects to take in the game. Read inside to find out which prospects will be visiting Columbia this weekend.

Several current Gamecock commitments will be on hand for unofficial visits at Saturday's contest, including Spring Valley (Columbia, SC) offensive lineman Quintin Richardson, Cheraw (SC) standout defensive end Cliff Matthews, T.L. Hanna (Anderson, SC) star running back Brian Maddox, Laurinburg (NC) teammates Travian Robertson and Byron McKnight, Anson (Wadesboro, NC) speedster Michael Bowman, and newly committed Sumter (SC) offensive lineman Kyle Nunn.

The only official visitor scheduled for this weekend is Westlake (Atlanta, GA) star and current Gamecock commitment, Addison Williams. This premier Peach State cornerback committed to South Carolina back in May, and he has elected to officially visit the USC campus this weekend since he plans on being a December graduate.

The Gamecocks are expecting a trio of Tar Heel State prospects to be on hand Saturday in Independence (Charlotte, NC) wide receiver Jason Barnes, Richmond Senior (Rockingham, NC) standout linebacker Melvin Ingram, and Garner (NC) premier safety Chris Culliver. Barnes was on hand last weekend for the Gamecocks match up with Tennessee, and there is a border battle going on for his services between the Gamecocks and the Tar Heels of North Carolina. Ingram is a punishing linebacker prospect who is considering North Carolina, NC State, and South Carolina, but the Gamecocks will look to move up his list of favorites this weekend. Culliver is considered to be one of the top safety prospects in America, and he currently favors Florida and Clemson, but USC hopes to impress him this weekend.

Richland Northeast (Columbia, SC) 5-star athlete Mark Barnes is a regular at South Carolina home games, and he will be on hand for an unofficial visit this weekend. Barnes currently favors South Carolina over Louisville. Another Palmetto State prospect expected this weekend is Neeses (SC) sleeper defensive tackle William Brimfield, who recently decommitted from North Carolina. Brimfield currently holds scholarship offers from North Carolina and South Carolina, but now that he is no longer committed to the Tar Heels, he hopes that more offers will come his way.

A few younger prospects are also expected to attend Saturday's game. Barnes teammates at Richland Northeast, linebacker Chaz Washington (Class of 08') and defensive end Chris Bonds (Class of 09'), will join him at Saturday's game. Cheraw wide receiver/safety Jaron Brown (Class of 08') will be on hand, as will J.L. Mann (Greenville, SC) star cornerback J.T. Floyd, who is a soft commitment to Tennessee. Laurinburg linebacker Terrell Manning (Class of 08') will join Robertson and McKnight on their trip to Columbia as well.
