Decision On The Horizon For Ingram?

Richmond (Rockingham, NC) linebacker Melvin Ingram has seen his stock skyrocket in recent months after exploding onto the scene during his senior season. The punishing linebacker prospect now claims offers from North Carolina, South Carolina, N.C. State, and ECU, and he is drawing serious interest from Alabama. Read inside to find out where the Gamecocks stand in the race for Ingram's services.

Ingram, who measures in at a solid 6'2 and 225 pounds, is currently gearing up for an official visit to South Carolina this weekend.

"I'm visiting South Carolina on December 1," said Ingram. "I'm looking forward to meeting the coaches and players and seeing the campus."

Ingram previously visited USC unofficially for their match up against Arkansas a few weeks ago, and he said that two things stood out to him while on that visit.

"They had good facilities and a real good atmosphere."

South Carolina is joined at the top by three other schools, comprising Ingram's top four list of favorites.

"I'm also looking at N.C. State, North Carolina, and Alabama. Everybody is still pretty much even."

"I don't have any other visits set up right now, but I may visit N.C. State and Alabama."

Ingram stated that he is looking for two crucial factors when deciding on his college destination.

"Early playing time and academics are important."

Lastly, Ingram said that a decision could potentially be on the horizon.
