With Shula Gone, Is Murdock Looking Around?

South Carolina, fresh off a victory over arch-rival Clemson, is hitting the recruiting trail hard this week to take full advantage of the momentum.

With the firing of Mike Shula at Alabama, the Gamecock coaching staff could see early rewards for its efforts.

Sherod Murdock, a 3-star cornerback from Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida and current Alabama verbal commitment, is now interested in once again hearing what the Gamecocks have to say.

"They were recruiting me before I committed to Alabama. The whole reason I was going was because of Coach Shula," said Murdock. "I was shocked when I heard the news about Coach Shula, he was supposed to be down here this week."

Now with Shula gone, the 6'0, 180 pound Murdock, who runs a 4.5 second forty yard dash, says he is open to hearing what the Gamecocks have to offer.

"I am still shocked about Coach Shula being fired, but I want to hear what South Carolina has to say."

Another factor playing in South Carolina's favor is that Murdock's older brother, O.J. Murdock, plays for the Gamecocks.
