New Leader For Brimfield?
Brimfield, who made an official visit to South Carolina on December 8, is in no hurry to make a decision, and he has three more visits scheduled for the month of January.
"Everything's going pretty good so far in recruiting," said Brimfield. "I've got a January 12 visit to Tennessee, January 19 to North Carolina, and January the 26th to Clemson."
The Palmetto State standout left Columbia with the Gamecocks as his favorite earlier this month, but the Volunteers have made a strong push for his services in recent weeks.
"Actually, Tennessee is my leader right now. I'm just waiting to take my official visits and see how things go."
One reason that South Carolina has fallen down his list of favorites is that scholarships are running tight down in Columbia. USC informed Brimfield of that numbers crunch, but they did not get the reaction they were hoping for.
"South Carolina did (ask me to commit soon or I might lose my spot.) They were the only school that did. I basically said, ‘I've got other schools out there that have offered me scholarships. Y'all go ahead and do what you've got to do.' They are still recruiting me, but I'm in no hurry."
Brimfield stated that he wants to choose the school that is the best fit for him, because he is the one that will have to live with his decision over the next several years.
"After taking my visits, I want to find the best school for me possible. The school I go to has to fit my major and have great facilities and coaches. That's about it. That's what I'm looking for in a school. I figure by choosing a school, I want to be there for the next four or five years of my life. I don't want to waste that by choosing the wrong school."
Lastly, when asked about a timeframe for his decision, Brimfield said he could potentially see himself waiting until signing day to announce his college choice.
"There's a possibility I could take this all the way til' signing day, but there's a possibility I won't. We'll see."
