Williams Excited To Join Gamecocks In January

Westlake (Atlanta, GA) 3-star cornerback Addison Williams has been firmly committed to the Gamecocks since May, and after making the necessary grades to graduate early, he is now gearing up to enroll at South Carolina in January. Read inside to find out when Williams will be coming to Columbia, what his goals are for his first year at USC, and much more.

The 5'9, 170 pound Williams, who many analysts have compared to former Georgia standout cornerback Tim Jennings, said he is looking forward to getting a jump start on the college experience.

"Yeah, I believe I'll be going up there the weekend of January 12," said Williams. "I'm looking forward to getting up there and just working out with the team. As far as academics, I'm looking forward to getting a jump on my education."

By enrolling early, Williams will have the luxury of taking part in spring practice, and with spring camp only a few months away, Williams has set a few simple goals for himself.

"My goals are pretty much to go in, work hard, and earn some playing time."

Williams, who runs a 4.4 second forty yard dash, shared what it was about South Carolina that led him to become a Gamecock.

"They are an up-and-coming ball club, and as everyone else saw this year, they are one or two players away from winning the SEC Championship."

Another factor that Williams likes about USC is the possibility for early playing time, and after looking at the Gamecocks depth chart, he believes he can see the field immediately.

"With this past season, they only played three corners. One of the corners is Fred Bennett, and he's graduating and going on to the NFL, so I'm looking forward to getting in there and competing for early playing time."

Lastly, Williams, who hopes to wear the #6 jersey at Carolina, is looking forward to watching the Gamecocks bowl game against Houston on Friday afternoon,.

"I'll be watching the bowl game. It should be a pretty good game since Houston is the Champion of Conference USA, but I'm looking for a South Carolina victory."
