Decision On The Horizon For Auguste?

Chaminade (Hollywood, FL) 4-star cornerback Akeem Auguste is finished making his official visits, and he is now on the verge of putting an end to the recruiting process. The 5'11, 180 pound Auguste originally wanted to wait until signing day before making his college choice known, but he has now moved up the timeframe for his decision. Read inside for full story.

Auguste, who has favored South Carolina ever since his official visit to Columbia in early December, said the Gamecocks are still the team to beat as his decision draws near.

"South Carolina is still on top for me, and Wake Forest is in there too," said Auguste. "It's pretty much done to me. Nobody new is really starting to talk to me."

The West Virginia Mountaineers, who were previously in Auguste's top three, appear to be falling out of the picture with the premier cornerback prospect.

"West Virginia is still in there, but I don't know. Maybe not. It‘s mainly the other two."

As for his final decision, Auguste has set a target date by which he will make his commitment known.

"By January 20th, I should have my final, final decision. It could come before then, but I should definitely have it by January 20th."

Auguste, who runs a blazing 4.4 second forty yard dash, said that he has been keeping in regular contact with the South Carolina coaches as his decision looms.

"I'm keeping in touch with Coach (Robert) Gillespie. He's real cool. He's like my boy. He doesn't treat me like a kid, and I feel comfortable with him. I‘ve also talked with Coach (Ron) Cooper. He‘s a nice guy too."
