4-star Williams Hopes To Make Early Impact
The 6'0, 180 pound Williams, who committed to South Carolina in November, said several things about the Gamecocks stood out to him in the recruiting process.
"The coaches were good to me, and I liked the facilities," said Williams. "I have the opportunity for early playing time there, and I know I can fit in on defense. The biggest factor was really my relationship with the coaches though."
Williams has kept in touch with the USC coaches since his commitment, and they are telling him that he has a good chance to earn early playing time next season.
"They said there's very, very good chance I could play early. They've only got two DB's back, and they think I can get playing time real early."
Williams, who is currently running track, shared a few goals that he has set for his freshman season and beyond with the Gamecocks.
"I want to do good on my academics, compete, and show that I can make it to the league. Hopefully we can win an SEC Championship when I‘m there."
When asked to describe what strengths he brings to the football field, Williams, who is rated as the #21 cornerback in America by Scout.com, said his speed and aggressiveness set him apart.
"I'm fast. I run a 4.3. I'm very aggressive, and I like contact."
The Sunshine State standout has also gotten to know a few of his fellow South Carolina commitments through the recruiting process.
"I know the two boys from Ocala, Antonio Allen and Dion Lecorn. We met on our visit, and we keep in contact. I also know Eric Baker, and he calls me and stuff. Then my teammate Arkee (Smith) is also going to South Carolina, and we‘re already talking about school."
Lastly, Williams wanted to pass on a message to the South Carolina fans.
"Just look for me on the field doing big things for the Gamecocks."
