Maddox Ready To Make It Official

T.L. Hanna (Anderson, SC) 4-star running back Brian Maddox made his pledge to South Carolina back in early June, and the standout tailback never wavered in his commitment to the Gamecocks. After watching USC's 2007 class grow to top ten status throughout the fall and into the winter, he is now ready to make his college choice official by signing his LOI on Wednesday morning.

The 6'1, 210 pound Maddox, who is widely considered one of the top running back prospects in the Southeast, has a busy day lined up on Wednesday with all of the Signing Day festivities.

"I'm going to send the fax in early, and then at 2 o'clock I'm doing a media signing," said Maddox. "At 5 o'clock I'm going on ESPNU, and around 6:05 a radio station in Columbia wants me to answer some questions and stuff like that."

Maddox said that he has enjoyed watching USC's 2007 recruiting class, which currently ranks 6th in the nation, come together since his commitment over the summer.

"Oh yeah, it's really great to see how this class has come together. I kind of knew that was going to happen just because of how they did the previous year and how the coaches were selling the school to us and stuff like that. It's a great class to be a part of."

Maddox, who said he was recently timed running a 4.38 second forty yard dash, plans to work hard in between now and June so he can arrive at USC ready to compete.

"I'm working out with the track team right now. I don't plan on running in any meets so I won't risk pulling a hamstring or anything like that, but whenever Carolina sends me the strength and conditioning regimen that they do, I'll start doing that so I can get ready to go down there."

The Palmetto State standout has already set some lofty goals for his freshman campaign with the Gamecocks.

"I would like to get freshman of the year in the SEC and maybe nationally. I want to at least get 700 yards rushing, and I hope we win the SEC next year and the National Championship."

Maddox closed by sharing a message with the Gamecock faithful.

"Columbia, here I come. Go Cocks!"
