Culliver Excited To Be a Gamecock

Garner (NC) 4-star wide receiver Chris Culliver signed his letter of intent with the Gamecocks and faxed it to USC early Wednesday morning to make his college choice official. The dynamic Culliver, who is considered to be one of the most electrifying athletes in America this year, said that he is excited to be a part of South Carolina's historic 2007 recruiting class.

"I've made my decision, and I‘m excited to be a part of this class," said Culliver. "I'm just looking forward to having a good career in college now. I'm not going to look back on the decision I've made as far as other schools. I'm a Gamecock now."

The 6'1, 190 pound Culliver, who has been timed running a sub 4.3 second forty yard dash, has high expectations for this recruiting class at South Carolina.

"It's a great class. There's a lot of big name prospects coming in, and hopefully everyone will step it up on the next level just like they did in high school. I know I'm going to do the best I can to do my part, and hopefully we can compete for championships."

Culliver was excited to learn about his friend and fellow North Carolina prospect Weslye Saunders' decision to commit to the Gamecocks on Monday night.

"That was great. We all took our official (visits) at the same time actually. It was me, Wes (Saunders), and Jason Barnes. We had a good time hanging out, and we‘re all friends. I think that probably set him (on USC) knowing that we're all from the same area and stuff. It was kind of cool."

The Tar Heel State standout, who is currently running track, plans to train hard in between now and the summer so that he will arrive at USC ready to compete.

"I hope to train with an NFL player, Koren Robinson, who got suspended from the league and everything. I hope to train with him in the next couple of weeks and just get a standpoint from somebody who has already made it to the league. I'm just going to be working hard and doing the things that keep me right. I'm running track this Saturday. I'm competing for the NCHSAA 4-A state championship in indoor track."

Culliver closed by sharing an enthusiastic message with the South Carolina fans.

"I just want to say Go Gamecocks, and I‘ll be there soon."
