Explosive Sunshine State ATH Favors Three

Cypress Creek (Orlando, FL) star athlete Marcel Rose is one of the most dynamic prospects in the Sunshine State this recruiting year, and the versatile playmaker recently visited Columbia to check out what all the Gamecocks have to offer. Where does South Carolina stand with this explosive 2008 prospect? Read inside to find out.

The 5'11, 180 pound Rose, who excels at wide receiver, running back, and defensive back, was on hand for South Carolina's recent junior day event, and the Sunshine State standout enjoyed his time at USC.

"It went great. I met some of the coaches and some of the players. I had a really fun time," said Rose. "We took a tour of the campus and talked to some of the strength coaches and stuff. I got a good feel for South Carolina. They have good coaches and a good stadium. The campus is really nice too. It was a great trip"

Rose does not have any official offers yet, but he is receiving interest from major programs like Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Auburn, and Clemson. After his trip to Columbia, Rose said three schools now sit atop his list.

"South Carolina, Florida, and the University of Notre Dame stand out right now."

Rose, who runs a blazing 4.4 second forty yard dash, knows what factors he is looking for in a school.

"First is the school itself, because I'm going to college to get my degree. Second, it's the coaching staff and the players. That's what I'm looking for."

The Orlando, FL native could potentially have a decision in the near future as well if any offers come his way.

"Probably whoever gives me the first offer, I'm probably going to take that."

When asked to describe himself as a player on the football field, Rose replied that he has done it all for Cypress Creek on the gridiron.

"I'm fast. I have great speed, I'm versatile, and I'm really just a playmaker. I had a good season last year playing corner, running back, and receiver. I had 690 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards with 10 total touchdowns. Then I had like 40 tackles and 2 interceptions."

Rose, who is being recruited by Coach John Hunt for the Gamecocks, closed by sharing a couple of goals for his senior season.

"For my team, hopefully we can get over .500 and go to the playoffs."
