Decision day for Richardson
The four-star prospect has trimmed his list to three schools: the University of South Carolina, the University of Florida, and the University of Georgia. Richardson intends on enrolling early at the school he picks to go through that school's spring practice before his freshman season.
Richardson first landed on the Gamecocks' recruiting radar last summer when he impressed the USC coaches at their summer camp and landed his first offer. Based largely on a great relationship with his recruiter, South Carolina running backs coach Robert Gillespie, the Gamecocks quickly jumped out front in the race for Richardson's services.
The explosive receiver put together a big junior year last fall, playing both ways for the Blue Devils while hauling in 26 passes for 452 yards and six touchdowns. Along the way, Richardson's offer list began to grow at a rapid pace as he received offers from major programs such as Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Clemson, West Virginia, Southern Cal, and Tennessee.
Despite the added attention and the 20+ offers, the Gamecocks remained out front until around two weeks ago when Richardson announced a top five of South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and Southern Cal - then promptly set an announcement date of May 30.
After cutting his list down from five potential suitors to three, Richardson has reportedly gone back and forth the last few days over what school he should pick.
Richardson, who is ranked the No. 17 wide receiver in the nation according to Scout.com, has visited Florida and South Carolina multiple times, but has never been to Athens, leading many to believe the Gamecocks and Gators are in the final two.
While many believe when Richardson set the announcement date, he had intentions of picking the Gamecocks, the home-state Gators have made a furious push for his services since then.
The time for Richardson to make his intentions clear is just mere hours away.
