Dickerson pulls the trigger

Georgia Military standout linebacker Josh Dickerson made an official visit to South Carolina two weekends ago and came away very impressed with what South Carolina has to offer. After taking some time to think things over, Dickerson decided to pull the trigger and commit to the Gamecocks last week, joining good friend and GMC teammate Tony Straughter as a pledge in USC's 2009 recruiting class.

GamecockAnthem.com confirmed Josh Dickerson's commitment on Sunday night and hopes to catch up with the hard-hitting defender for a full interview in the near future.

The 6'2", 220 pound Dickerson, who runs a 4.5 second forty yard dash, made an official visit to South Carolina on the weekend of September 19th and left Columbia with the Gamecocks as his clear favorite. After thinking things over for a few days, Dickerson called his USC recruiter Ron Cooper and officially gave his verbal commitment to play for the Gamecocks last week.

Dickerson is on track to graduate from Georgia Military in December and will enroll at USC for the spring semester. He has three years to play two, eligibility-wise.

The Kingsland, GA native totaled 32 tackles and 4 sacks as a freshman at Georgia Military last fall, tops among the GMC linebackers. He will play either the MIKE or WILL linebacker position for the Gamecocks next fall.

Dickerson chose South Carolina over offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Minnesota, East Carolina, and Marshall. He becomes USC's sixteenth commitment in the 2009 recruiting class.
