Auburn Commitment Ready to Visit

The South Carolina Gamecocks are in need of speedy playmakers at wide receiver and this weekend they will play host to one prospect who fits that description. Long-time Auburn commitment Travante Stallworth will take his second official visit in as many weeks and is anxious to hear what the Gamecocks have to offer. Read inside as updates you on the shifty prospect's recruitment.

The 5'9", 180-pound Stallworth has been committed to Auburn since they discovered him at a prospect camp during the summer. A quarterback running the spread at Leesville HS, Stallworth was recruited to play wide receiver for the Tigers and planned to stick with them until the coaching change came.

Recently Stallworth began looking around and took an official visit to Michigan last weekend. This weekend he will be in Columbia for the Gamecocks' Big Recruiting Weekend.

"Yes sir, I am (looking forward to it)," Stallworth said. "Just how the coaches are and see if I interact with the players well, and just all of the facilities and everything."

Since the coaching change at Auburn, Stallworth has heard from head coach Steve Spurrier and from his recruiter of record Steve Spurrier, Jr. Stallworth shared his thoughts on Spurrier, Jr.

"I think he's a real cool person," Stallworth said. "I really like him; he's excited about me. He's the offensive coordinator so I'm sure I will get some playing time since I'm talking to him or whatever. He's also the receivers coach."

While Stallworth is looking forward to his time in Columbia, he also had fun during his official visit to Michigan.

"It went real well; I liked everything up there," Stallworth said. "All of the coaches and all of the players, I interacted with them good. It's real nice up there."

As much as he liked the visit, nothing has changed with his top schools. "They're definitely in the mix right now, but I'm still committed to Auburn," he said.

The Gamecocks will get one chance to turn the shifty Leesville prospect their way, before Stallworth officially visits Auburn the weekend of January 23. He says everyone if even, but he will sit down and make a final decision after his last visit.

Stallworth has one thing that he is looking for the most in the program he ultimately chooses.

"Just the coaches in general…just how I interact with the coaches," Stallworth said. "Because you know at Auburn they have a new coach and I really haven't talked to him…well I haven't seen him in person or talked to him as much. I interacted with Coach Rodriguez real good; we had a real good conversation and my mom really likes him. I'm going to see how I talk to Coach Spurrier and see how everything goes there then I'll talk to Coach Chizik and see how everything goes with him."
