Pressley has Carolina in Top Group

E. E. Waddell HS (Charlotte, NC) PF Jervon Pressley is one of many prospects in the Charlotte area that Darrin Horn and the South Carolina Gamecocks are showing interest in. Pressley recently took a visit to Columbia to watch the Gamecocks defeat Georgia in front of a full house. Read inside as has the full report on the North Carolina big-man.

The 6'7", 180-pound Pressley claims offers from South Carolina, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Baylor. He is also receiving interest from Florida, Indiana and VCU.

Pressley was one of many 2011 prospects who took in the Gamecocks SEC victory over Georgia last weekend. He left Columbia impressed with Coach Darrin Horn's style of play.

"They rely on their defense to win games and then the coach, he knows when it's serious time and when it's play time," Pressley said. "He can relate to his players and then they push it until they can't go anymore, basically. He's [also] got a 100 percent graduation rate."

Pressley was also impressed with the South Carolina fans and the fact that some actually knew who he was.

"People just coming up speaking to you just out of nowhere [surprised me]. They'll show you love," he said. "And then (Coach Horn) just let you see whatever you wanted to see. He showed me how you would come out at the football games. He let me meet the players, see the locker rooms, everything."

Pressley described the South Carolina staff as "very welcoming."

Pressley was also impressed with the 18,000 fans that showed up to sell out the Colonial Life Arena.

"It was hyper," Pressley says. "Everybody was into the game. It was a real sixth man."

Pressley is also interested in the Clemson program Oliver Purnell has built.

"When I was down there I liked how Oliver Purnell stayed on his players and made them work hard," he said. "They play defense and they love to win, that's their top goal. They go after every loose ball on the floor."

Pressley claims a top four of South Carolina, Connecticut, LSU and Georgetown. He says he loves the way UConn, LSU and Georgetown develop their big men. He also loves the way he could fit into the South Carolina system and believes he could become a better overall player there.

Pressley says he would like to make a decision before his junior season starts.
