Pensacola Catholic LB/DE To Visit The Gamecocks

Pensacola (Fl) Catholic high school defensive end/linebacker Billy Harrison, 6'4 230, will make an official visit to the Gamecocks. Harrison projects as a rush end/outside linebacker. He is an exceptionally gifted athlete who plays basketball and runs track as well. He recently hit the six foot mark (high-jump) in the Florida state 2-A track championships. ...

Harrison visited South Florida on New Years weekend, is visiting Tulane on the 10th, will come to South Carolina on January 17th and Auburn on January 24th.

"I went to the Army Vs. Tulane game with my girlfriend, we both liked the whole atmosphere down there. The coaches seemed really interested in me, they were really hyped up about me coming in for the game", Harrison told TheInsiders.

"It's the only unofficial visit that I made. The game wasn't too good (Tulane lost to Army 14-10) but I felt really positive down there," Harrison continued, "and so did my girlfriend. There's just something about it. I liked it."

And here's Billy Harrison on the other schools on his list: "As far as South Florida goes, there's a lot of things. It's close to home. I've lived in Florida most of my life. The football talent down here is the highest in the whole country. There's just something about Florida football. It's attractive, awesome. And I really like the South Florida head coach, Terry Price."

"And South Carolina's been on me since my junior year. Lou Holtz! (What else can I say?) My first two years we played the same defense that they use (the 3-4). They didn't do real well this year but last year they had 10 wins and went to a bowl game. I fit their system perfectly. I'd be an outside linebacker."

"Auburn's real close to home. In fact, it's closer than South Florida or Tulane. They're real high on me. They've paid me a lot of attention, put in a lot of time. Their defense is hard core. I like the coaches vibes. The school has a lot of tradition."

And when do you think you'll make your decision, Billy?

"Basically, I'll take my visits and when I finish I'll decide."

And where do you stand regarding the NCAA academic requirements?

"I'm in good shape with my grades and test scores."
