"I had a real good time at South Carolina," said Redd. "I liked everything there - campus, coaches and players. I think that is a place where I can play early. Right now, I am open. I will visit Tennessee and then make the decision whenever it comes to me."
Vince Redd has become a hot commodity for a handful of southern schools. Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, South Carolina and Tennessee are the schools on Redd's list. This weekend it was Lou Holtz and his staff getting their chance to impress the Elizabethton High School standout.
"It was a good visit," said Redd, also a standout power forward in the basketball who hopes to play both sports in college. "I enjoyed meeting the coaching staff and getting to know the players."
Redd can play a number of position on the college level and is being looked at by different schools as a tight end, defensive end and linebacker. One of Redd's greatest assets is his speed. Despite his size, Redd has been clocked at 4.75 in the 40. He also indicated to OBI that he didn't have a preference as to offense or defense in college.
Redd will take his final visit next weekend to Tennessee. At this point he said there is no timetable for making a decision, but that he would sit down with his family after the trip to Knoxville and decide on his college destination.
