JJ and I officially became Scout.com's South Carolina guys four years ago as the publishers of GamecockAnthem.com. Those four years have been filled with a lifetime of memories and the lasting friendships that were created during that time, but our time is up.
We have made the decision to turn the site over to Wes Mitchell, who will officially become the new publisher on June 1.
JJ has taken a four year break from his college studies in order to be the full-time publisher, and he will be returning to school full-time at the end of the summer.
I've always been bi-vocational during our time here, and in a convergence of circumstances, I've been given a tremendous new opportunity in my other field, but my new responsibilities will require my complete attention and preclude my ability to stay on as publisher.
GamecockAnthem.com will be in good hands. Wes has been on board full- time for a year and a half, and part-time for a long time before that, while he was a USC student. During that time, he has earned respect through his talent and diligent efforts not only from our members, but from his peers locally and nationally. Come Tuesday morning, I'm sure he will share with you what's to come in GamecockAnthem version 2.0.
Be assured, JJ and I aren't going far. This was our Gamecock Internet home before we became the publishers here, and so it will remain.
After working hard all week bringing you the latest recruiting news and team updates, both JJ and Wes have preferred to enjoy the football games from the stands, while I handled the pressbox duties. I have agreed to continue at Anthem in that limited capacity, as the football beat writer.
Thank you for four great years. JJ and I bid you a fond farewell.
A Fond Farewell
