Has Leonard cut list?

JL Mann (Greenville, S.C.) class of 2011 SG Damien Leonard was once considered a lean to the Clemson Tigers before Oliver Purnell left Clemson for Depaul. With speculation hitting the web that the Tigers have been cut from Leonard's list, GamecockAnthem.com's Josh Capers gets the latest on Leonard from his AAU coach Willis Holliday.

There has been some speculation that South Carolina star Damien Leonard has cut his list down to as little as three schools, but that doesn't appear to be the case — yet.

There has also been speculation that it's going to happen soon. While one source even confirmed the possibility, Leonard's AAU coach Willis Holliday says the 2011 sharp shooter is currently still down to five.

"He has not cut his list. I haven't told (anybody) that and neither has Damien," said Holliday, who has guided Leonard throughout his recruitment. "We are looking at five schools."

One of the schools that has said to be cut is Clemson, an in-state school that has said to be one of the favorites all along before the departure of former head coach Oliver Purnell.

"That's not true," Holliday continued. "We plan to visit there next week."

According to Holliday, South Carolina, Arizona and Oklahoma State are all still in it, and so is Virginia Tech — the other school that has been reported as being eliminated.

However, Holliday acknowledged that Leonard does plan to cut his list in early July or even late June.

NOTE: Leonard is recovering well after a scare at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions during Memorial Day weekend at Chapel Hill. Leonard went down clutching his knee in Duke's Card Gym while fighting for a loose ball. MRI's turned out to be negative, and even though he's not back to full speed, he's still actively doing shooting drills.
