USF Drops First Road Test 65-59 to UCF

Stan Heath and the USF men's basketball squad travelled to Orlando for their first road game, losing a close one 65-59 to UCF Thursday night.

The USF men's basketball travelled to Orlando for their first road contest falling 65-59 to Central Florida at the UCF Arena on Thursday, and dropping to 1-2 on the season.

USF forward Ron Anderson Jr. came off the bench to lead the Bulls in scoring with a season-high 18 points in just 28 minutes of play. Anderson also grabbed seven rebounds and hit 10 of 11 from the foul line. Augustus Gilchrist had 14 pts and 4 rebounds, and Hugh Robertson had12 points, and led the Bulls in rebounding with a season-high eight boards. Robertson also had five assists on the night to lead the Bulls.

The Bulls trailed 38-29 at the half, but went on a 14-2 run to take a 43-40 lead, only to see UCF go on to outscore USF 25-16 over the final 13:55 of the game. The Bulls made a late push and hit a three to make it a 2-point game at 59-61 with 23.9 sec left, but weren't able to complete the comeback.

USF Returns home to face Georgia Southern this Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Sun Dome.
