Good news for the Bulls wide receiver unit, as wide receiver A.J. Love, who missed the entire 2010 season with a knee injury, has received a sixth-year of eligibility from the NCAA on Monday afternoon.
"I was happy and excited to find out I'll be able to come back for another year and play with the guys," said Love.
As a junior in 2009, Love caught 26 passes for 489 yards and four TDs, and was poised for a big senior campaign, before injuring his knee during the spring game of this year. Love also missed his true freshman year with a thumb injury.
"It's an early Christmas gift," said Love. "I had a lot of people helping me out including (Associate Director of Athletics/Compliance) Steve Horton and (Director of Sports Medicine) Steve Walz, so I'm just looking forward to getting back out on the field."
Love played in 33 career games with USF, recording 65 catches for 970 yards and seven TDs. In 2009 Love had 26 receptions for 489 yards and four TDs as a junior, added 31 catches for 370 yards and two TDs as a sophomore, and caught eight passes for 111 yards and a TD as a redshirt freshman in 2007.
