Mitchell Named FWAA Freshman All-American

USF freshman punt returner Terrence Mitchell picked up his third Freshman All-America honor after being recognized by the Football Writers Association of America.

USF freshman punt returner/Wide Receiver Terrence Mitchell was named a FWAA Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America on Monday, earning his third Freshman All-America honor this post season. Previously Mitchell was already named to Freshman All-America teams by Phil Steele.

During his freshman season, Mitchell returned 27 punts for 232 yards (11.0 ypr) during the 2010 season. Mitchell's 11.0 yards per return average led the nation's rookie punt returners and also ranked 23rd nationally and second in the BIG EAST. Mitchell's longest return of the season, was a 67-yarder against Western Kentucky, where he had 94 yards on two returns against the Hilltoppers. He also had a 47-yard return against Rutgers and a 34-yarder in USF's Meineke Car Care Bowl victory over Clemson.

Mitchell is the first Bull to receive freshman FWAA honors since defensive end George Selvie was recognized in 2006.
