With signing day just weeks away, it's getting down to crunch time for many recruits. One of them is 6-foot-3, 200 pound Robinson receiver Ruben Gonzalez, who helped lead the Knights to their second 10-3 season, where they lost in the state play-offs.
Gonzalez was a two-way star for Robinson, finishing with 651 yards and seven touchdowns on a team leading 46 catches on offense, while recording 34 tackles on defense with one interception. He also had a blocked punt that was returned for a TD. Schools have taken notice of Gonzales who received over twenty scholarship offers from schools across the country, but has now trimmed his list down to three finalists.
While he plays multiple positions, Gonzales is rated as the No 78 receiver prospect by Scout, and says all three schools are recruiting him at wide receiver, and said why he narrowed his choices down to these three..
"I just like what the coaches had to say about me and how they showed me I would be used."
Gonzales already visited Purdue during the fall, and has his official visits lined up for the next two weeks.
"I'm taking an official visit to USF this weekend," said Ruben. "Then on the 21st I'll be going to Iowa State."
