The USF staff got good news today when Stephenson TE/H-Back Josh Parris out of Stone Mountain, GA committed to the Bulls today
"Yes sir, I committed to the University of South Florida today," said Paris. "It's a great school, I like the offense they run and they're going to use my position a lot. I also have family in Florida so that's a plus and I love the Florida weather.
The 6-foot-3, 240 pound TE/H-back prospect had offers from Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Mississippi, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Virginia, Boston College and Southern Miss. In the end he had a top three of USF, Vandy, and Ole Miss before choosing the Bulls.
"They were my first offer and out of all my offers they were recruiting me hardest," said Parris. "I like the coaches and they showed a lot of interest in me from day one and that really made me want to be a Bull."
Parris was receiving plenty of attention from top programs, but decided to end his recruitment and commit to USF
"I been thinking about it for several weeks, and the offer from USF was a good one, so I decided to jump on it, because offers aren't always going to be there," said Parris. "I called him and said I want to be a Bull! I'm real excited to have made my choice."
The Stephenson tight end has been to Florida, but never been to USF, but heard enough good things from coaches and teammates to make the call.
"I've never been to the campus, but I've been to Tampa and love the area. I'm definitely going to go down there this summer," said Parris. "I'm good friends with Willie Davis who's going there and he told me all about the school and he was so excited about how he talked about them, that it really made me want to go there."
Parris has seen the Bulls play on TV many times, including the bowl game against Clemson and like what he saw out of the team and the offense they run.
"I saw them against Clemson and that was real impressive. The main things I was looking at type of offense the run and I like how they play and how they involve the tight end position," said Parris. "I love to catch the ball and blocking has never been an issue for me."
"I talk to coach McGeoghan the most, but talked to all the coaches today. They were very happy to have me commit to be a Bull," said Parris. "The tight end coach told me how they were going to use me in the offense as an H-back and a tight end. Coach Holtz was real excited to have me too."
Now that his choice has been made, Parris is very happy and considers himself a solid commit.
"I'm very excited with my decision to play for USF and so is my family," said Parris. "I don't think another school can change my mind."
