Rayshawn Jenkins, a 6-foot-1, 188 pound athlete from Admiral Farragut in St. Petersburg is finished spring football and is getting ready for his summer campaign.
"I've just been running, lifting weights and trying to get bigger for next season," said Jenkins. "I've been working on my speed, my technique and learning the different positions on offense."
The versatile athlete committed to USF back in March, but is still getting attention from other schools as coaches have been stopping by, and recently he saw his offers list climb.
"It feels great to have all these coaches showing me the attention," said Jenkins. "I never thought I'd have offers like this, and it shows my hard work is paying off."
Now that his offer list is up to seven how does Jenkins feel about the school he committed to back in March?
"USF is still my top choice, but I have a top three of schools I'm interested in. Miami and Alabama are also in there," said Jenkins. "USF is number one, then Miami and Alabama in no particular order"
Jenkins did say though, he remains committed to the Bulls.
"Yes sir, I'm still committed to USF and I talk to the USF coaches often," said Jenkins. "I'm just keeping some options open."
The Admiral Farragut athlete said what keeps the Bulls at the top of his list.
"I like the coaches, the facilities, and the overall environment of the school. I got a good feeling when I visited and talk with the staff," said Jenkins. "I just love their coaching staff and they're a program on the rise."
Jenkins said why he has Miami and Alabama near the top.
"Miami is a Florida school with good weather and they're recruiting me for receiver which is my main position I like to play," said Jenkins. "Alabama is also in the south and they're a good program that plays in a good conference."
Jenkins plays a multitude of positions for Admiral Farragut including QB, RB, WR, DB, and special teams. On offense he threw for 824 yards on 48 of 72 passing with 10 touchdowns and 1 interception, while rushing 83 times for 647 yards with 7 TDs and zero fumbles, he also caught 1 pass for a 23 yard score. On defense he had 3 interceptions, 8 passes defended, 15 tackles with 1 for a loss, 4 sacks and 1 forced fumble. He is being recruited to play different positions in college.
"Everybody is offering me at receiver except for USF and Alabama, they got me at DB, USF also talks to me about special teams" said Jenkins. "I like to play receiver, but I'll play anywhere on field."
Now that the spring is over Jenkins plans on keeping himself busy this summer working out and attending camps.
"This summer I'm going to work out a lot and go to some camps I've been invited to. "I'm definitely going to the USF SuperBull, and I'll probably be going to camps at Miami, Florida State, and Florida, schools like that."
