D.J. White, a 6-foot, 180 pound defensive back from Union Grove high school in McDonough, GA is finished spring football and is getting ready for his summer campaign. He gave a verbal to the Bulls this spring, but that hasn't stopped schools from offering the USF commit.
"My spring went pretty well, I worked pretty much on everything to improve my game from tackling to off coverage to press coverage," said White. "We got a lot accomplished as a team and we got to work with a lot of the younger guys and see where they're at. It was a very productive spring session."
Besides getting a lot of good work in this spring, the USF commit has been busy picking up more offers. North Carolina was the most recent team to offer him this past weekend, joining several others that extended offers to the South Florida pledge this spring.
The a 6-foot-, 180 pound cornerback from Union Grove in McDonough, GA already had offers from top programs including Auburn, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, and Texas Tech, before choosing USF last month. Even with the added attention White said he's very solid with the Bulls.
"Yes sir, I'm solid with USF," said White. "It feels good to get the offers, but I feel very good with my decision. I talk with the coaches often and I actually just talked with Coach Shankweiler recently, he was just checking in on how I was doing with my work-outs and school, and things like that."
The stand-out Georgia prospect talks about what keeps South Florida in such high regard and why he's a solid commit.
"There is so much to like about the program, and I like the opportunity I have to go down there and compete for playing time," said White. "I feel that USF is a great all around program, from playing in the BIG EAST and automatically qualifying for a big bowl game and a championship. They also have a great business program as well, so those are just some of the things that keep me so solid. I also like the coaching staff a lot and I felt very comfortable with everything while I was there."
"They're also building so much with upgrading all the facilities and what they've done already looks great," said White. "Not to mention what they're going to be building in the near future like an indoor practice facility. It's going to be great once I get there."
White said he's solid with USF and the only camp he'll be attending is the SuperBull camp on June 25th. He also plans on attending Nike's "The Opening" which is a five day training program for elite athletes in Oregon in July.
"I know I'll be going to the camp that South Florida has on June 25th," said White. "I'm really looking forward to attending the SuperBull, seeing the other recruits and getting with the coaches as well. That's the only team camp that I'm planning on attending. The only other thing I got planned for this summer will be "The Opening" in Oregon for Nike on July 5th."
Besides a few camps, white just plans on keeping in shape and getting ready for his senior campaign.
"This summer I'm just going to keep working out, run, and stay in shape for the upcoming season," said White. "I'm going to focus on my teammates and see how he can get better. I'm really looking forward to this season. It's my senior year and I got to make it count."
