USF Summer Camp Season is Underway

It's mid June and that means the USF summer camp season is in full swing. It's mid June and that means the USF summer camp season is in full swing. The Bulls kicked off the season with their first installment of the Sling & Shoot/Big Man camp on June 11th and 12, and last week held several one-day camps, including a kicking camp, a junior camp, and a 1-day skills camp on Thursday, a Junior Bulls Camp on the 17th-19th, and are hosting a high school position camp an team padded camp the 19th-22nd, and will host the SuperBull this weekend.

The Bulls1-Day Skills Camp was open to student athletes in grades 9-12 and was an all-day affair as over 150 kids took in the camp.

The kids began registration at 9 a.m. and immediately began the campus tour. They got to meet the entire coaching staff and each coach gave a little speech about themselves, the program, the upcoming season and the future at USF. The season opener against Notre Dame was brought up regularly by each staff member.

The kids got to take a tour of the locker rooms, see the countdown clock which is set for Sept 3rd at Notre Dame and were also told about how the entire locker room will be redone this summer.

They also took a tour of the football suite, offices and saw the Bulls in the NFL board which has grown quite a bit over the last several years.

Part of the tour consisted of the kids getting to sit in the meeting room, and talking with the staff and watching the Bulls highlight reels. They also got a great speech from Head Coach Skip Holtz and as personable as he is, this is where Holtz shines.

They then broke into groups by position and had a classroom session with film study by the different position coaches.

After a break for lunch they headed out to the brand new practice fields for a two-hour practice session where they got to learn from the USF coaching staff while working with their prospective positions and then went on to do some one-on ones.

The camp ended with a nice speech from USF QB Coach Peter Vaas and closed with a final talk from USF Head Coach Skip Holtz.
