The USF class of 2011 has arrived on campus and USFNation had a chance to catch up with the incoming signees and their plans since National Signing Day. In our last entry we spoke with Wellington Beach High School offensive lineman Brynjar Gudmundsson.

In this entry we bring an interview with Sebring High School outside linebacker/defensive end Zack Bullock. Bullock was a three-year letterman and was an all-county performer. He posted 95 tackles, eight sacks, 40 pressures, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries over his last two seasons. He earned all-county and all-district honors as a senior and was invited to play in the South Central All-Star Classic. During his senior season he tallied 45 tackles, four sacks, 22 pressures, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and five TDs. He also lettered in basketball and was mentored by current USF assistant Larry Scott's brother, Coach LaVaar Scott, who is also the defensive coordinator at Sebring.

How has your summer been going?

It's been going fine man, really busy. I'm just getting ready to get up there. I've been working out, trying to eat, running and doing whatever I need to get ready.

Have you been using the USF workout plan?

Yes, I've been using it. It gives me a good look of what I'll been doing when I get up there. I like it.

What is your current height and weight?

I'm 6'4" and 209 lbs. I played at about 200 lbs (last year).

What were some of the reasons you chose USF?

It's close to home and it's a good atmosphere. I like the coaches and I like the players that I got to meet. All of that helped me make my decision.

How does it feel to finally be enrolling?

Yeah I'm just ready to get it going. I've been waiting for several months to do what I love to do. I just can't wait!

What are your immediate goals once you get on campus?

My immediate goals are to get established academically. I want to give myself some leeway so that when the season comes I won't have to worry so much about my grades. I just want to get academically established.

What position were you recruited for specifically?

SAM Linebacker but once I gain more weight I'd like to be able to put my hands in the ground but that will be all up to Coach and whatever he wants me to do.

As a defensive player, is there a certain offense you like to see when you get to the line of scrimmage?

I don't know. I just play. I can tell you what offenses I don't like. I don't like the option and split backs but everything else I'm cool with. I can play the pass pretty well so I don't really care about that.

What is your favorite play to run?

I like to blitz. I played D-End in high school so when I'm blitzing or pass rushing I have series of moves I like to use. I have counter moves and I like to blitz and get to the quarterback.

What are your strengths as a player?

Like I said, my strengths are blitzing and my first step off the ball. I would like to think that I'm pretty agile. I have a quick first step, so I like to get after the quarterback and make plays. I can play in space and I like to use my speed. That's what I like to do.

What are some things you need to improve on?

I probably need to use my hands better on linemen. I need to get a little bit stronger and I'd like to weigh a bit more. I don't want to have to run around people I want to run through them. I mean I can still run through them but I want to be able to do whatever I want on the field.

Is there a player on the college or pro level that you try to model your game after?

No, I don't think I'm like any other player.

What does Zack Bullock bring to USF as a football player?

I bring hard work, I bring tenacity and I bring the will to win. I just bring ‘IT.' Whatever they need me to bring, that's what I'm bringing. I'm coming up there with my skills, my mentality to work hard and whatever they ask me to do I'm going to do it.

What is a message you want to give the fans for this upcoming season?

Be prepared to celebrate!
