Class of 2011 Intro: OLB Edsel Caprice

The USF class of 2011 has arrived on campus and USFNation had a chance to catch up with the incoming signees and find out more about them. In this entry we spoke with Cape Coral standout linebacker Edsel Caprice. The USF freshman talks about what he's worked on over the past 6 months, what to expect, and much more.

The USF class of 2011 has arrived on campus and USFNation had a chance to catch up with the incoming signees and their plans since National Signing Day. In our last entry we spoke with Baldwin County High School offensive lineman Boo Simon.

In this entry we bring an interview with Cape Coral High School outside linebacker Edsel Caprice. Caprice was an all-state performer and two-time all-area selection by posting 188 tackles, 34 sacks, 66 TFL, an INT and 11 forced fumbles during his two seasons as a starter. Caprice was also tabbed first-team all-area by the Fort Myers News Press as a senior and selected first-team all-district by the coaches when he tallied 78 tackles, 14 sacks, 28 TFL, four forced fumbles and an INT that he returned for a TD. Caprice also lettered in track and field three times and basketball once.

How has your summer been going?

My summer's been good. All I've been doing is working out and lifting.

Have you been using the USF workout plan?

Yes, it's good and I've been using it for a while now.

What is your current height and weight?

I'm 6'2" and I'm over 210 lbs but less than 215 lbs.

What were some of the reasons you chose USF?

My main reasons for choosing USF is that it's where I wanted to be and I knew I could make a big impact there.

How does it feel to finally be enrolling?

I'm excited because I'm ready to move on to the next step in life.

What are your immediate goals once you get on campus?

I would say my immediate goals are to add weight and muscle so I can be big enough to make an impact.

What position were you recruited for specifically?

I was recruited to play SAM linebacker.

As a defensive player, is there a certain offense you like to see when you get to the line of scrimmage?

I would say I-formation or a spread offense because they're easy to read.

What is your favorite play to run?

I like coming off the edge or blitzing and stuff like that.

What are your strengths as a player?

I'd say my strengths are my speed, my hands and my ability to get off blocks.

What are some things you need to improve on?

I'd say my strength, I need to improve on that and get bigger.

What does Edsel Caprice bring to USF as a football player?

I think I bring a hardworking teammate and a player that's ready to bring it.

What is a message you want to give the fans for this upcoming season?

I'm proud to be a Bull!
