The USF class of 2011 has arrived on campus and USFNation had a chance to catch up with the incoming signees and their plans since National Signing Day. In our last entry we spoke with Cape Coral High School outside linebacker Edsel Caprice.

In this entry we bring an interview with Griffin High School fullback/H-Back Ty Turner. Turner was a three-year letterman and a Wendy's High School Heisman nominee. He was also an all-state and two-time all-region selection. He tallied 28 receptions for 569 yards (20.3 ypc) and seven TDs over three years in Griffin's run-heavy offense. He helped lead Griffin to a 10-2 record as a senior and a berth in the second round of the state playoffs. He also earned all-region honors, voted team captain and was a preseason all-state selection. He posted 15 catches for 290 yards (19.3 ypc) and four TD as a senior. He also earned three letters in basketball and was a member of the honor roll.

How has your summer been going?

I've just been working out and getting ready to come down there.

Have you been using the USF workout plan?

Yeah, it's pretty good. I've been using that and I've been working out with my high school coaches. I've been doing both of them. It's been pretty helpful.

What is your current height and weight?

I'm 6'3" 245 lbs. I played at 240 lbs last season.

How does it feel to finally be enrolling?

It's very exciting. It's actually one of the best things in my life. It's a new phase in my life that I'm about to venture on and I'm ready.

As a Georgia guy, do you notice that the Bulls are becoming a bigger presence in your State?

Yeah, in the Griffin area and the Lovejoy area I know there a couple guys that are already committed or that they really like the school. It's becoming a popular trend to go to USF. USF is making a bigger impression in Georgia.

What are your immediate goals once you get on campus?

My immediate goals are to get everything situated with school. I want to hit the books and hit the field running.

What position were you recruited for specifically?

They recruited me for the H-back/tight end/fullback type.

As an offensive player, is there a certain defense you like to see when you get to the line of scrimmage?

Coverage-wise I like when they go man because I feel like with my size I have the advantage when they go man. I like zone coverage's too but I really like it when they go man-up.

What is your favorite play to run?

In high school it was a stick route but right now I haven't really gotten too much into the plays except for the basics. In high school it was a like a five yard comeback, catch and make a play.

What are your strengths as a player?

I have great size, my footwork is pretty good and I have great hands. I think I have a pretty high football IQ and I'm strong, that's pretty much it.

What are some things you need to improve on?

Like I said my footwork is pretty good but it could get better. You can always get better at catching passes. I can get stronger and get better at running routes and stuff like that.

Is there a player on the college or pro level that you try to model your game after?

Not really but I do like Antonio Gates. He's like the perfect tight end. I watch him a lot of the times.

What is a message you want to give the fans for this upcoming season?

I'm coming in to make the team better and I just want to say Go Bulls!
