When the Bulls beat #16 ranked Notre Dame, a program rich with tradition, it caught the attention of a lot of people and had an immediate impact on the Bulls recruiting efforts. One player that the win caught the attention of was Wharton's Vernon Hargreaves III, who's one of the top corners for the class of 2013.
"I was very impressed with the win," said Hargreaves. "They were really physical on the defensive side of the ball and caused a lot of turnovers when they needed to."
The 5-foot-11, 180 pound corner prospect said being at a winning program is important to him and a win like that has a positive effect on how he views the Bulls.
"They have always been a top choice, but yes it definitely helps how I view them," said Hargreaves. "It shows that they know how to win big games under pressure."
The Wharton standout has caught the attention of many big time programs and already has four early offers from the State's top four programs, UF, FSU, USF, and Miami. Through the sprin Hargreaves has claimed that FSU was his leader, but that's no longer the case.
"Right now I like UF, USF, FSU, in that order," said Hargreaves, who shared why the Gators have moved up for him. "I really like Florida's coaching staff and facilities."
Hargreaves talked about why he has USF in his current top two.
"I really like the coaching staff, they're all great," said Hargreaves. "The win showed me a lot. I didn't know how they would respond to all the people saying they were going to lose. They proved a lot of people wrong on Saturday."
Friday was Wharton first regular game of the season and even though they lost to King 14-6 Hargreaves had a solid game finishing with six tackles, one interception and three pass breakups on defense and had a 35-yard run on offense. They play at Sickles this Friday at 7:30.
