USF first to offer QB John O'Korn

St. Thomas Aquinas quarterback John O'Korn is one of the state's top rising prospects and on Sunday made the trip to Tampa to check out USF for Junior Day. The visit went great for the 6-foot-3, 205 pound QB and he left with a USF offer. Read on for all the details and see where the Bulls stand.

John O'Korn is a stand-out quarterback prospect at St. Thomas Aquinas Hs in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The 6-foot-3, 210 pound signal caller, who transferred from Pennsylvania, served as a back-up last season, completing 26 of 52 passes for 377 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions in mostly spot work last year, but will be the starter this season.

This past Saturday he took a trip to Tampa with some of the states top prospects to check out what the Bulls had to offer for Junior Day.

"The visit went really well," said O'Korn. "The meeting with the staff went great and they extended me an offer."

O'Korn talked about how the offer went down.

"I was in Coach Fitch's office with him and Coach Scott and they broke the news to me that they were going to offer me," said O'Korn. "I was there with my mom and it was very exciting."

The stand-out prospect is getting a lot of attention from many top programs, but the Bulls were the first to extend an offer and O'Korn was glad and relieved to get it.

"It was my first offer and it really felt great," said O'Korn. "It just feels good to finally get the first one out of the way."

The St. Thomas Aquinas product talked about what he leaned about the USF football program during the visit.

"I learned a lot about the school during the visit," said O'Korn. "I got to learn about everything they had to offer. I really liked the campus and they have great facilities. It reminds me a lot of Pennsylvania where I'm from. "

"I really loved everything about the visit," said O'Korn. "I had a great day today and really liked the coaching staff and all the players I met."

O'Korn wasn't ready to name any leaders or favorites as he's more focused on his senior season than he is about recruiting at the present time.

"Right now I'm not really focused on recruiting," said O'Korn. "I'm more focused on getting ready for the season with my teammates. We got a couple of big games this year and the first game may be in New Orleans and Don Bosco is coming down to play us later in the year, so I'm just getting ready for that."

O'Korn did talk about the USF offer and why it's a good scenario for a quarterback for this recruiting cycle.

"They have a really good opportunity for a quarterback to come into," said O'Korn. "They didn't take a quarterback in their last class, so it's a very good situation."

The Bulls were the first to offer, but O'Korn hopes to get a few more, as he's getting interest from Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and others. He also plans on being busy the next couple of weekends.

"I'm going to UF next weekend, and then I'm going to Florida State the weekend after that," said O'Korn. "That's all I know of for right now."
