With USF at the halfway point of spring practice, the Bulls are preparing for Friday's scrimmage, the first of the spring his and one that carries depth chart implications.

McFarland says he's put on some size and is up to 6-foot-5 and is in the 245-250 this spring. He also learning from the other guys in his unit, Evan Landi, and Andreas Shields, and is getting coached up by the staff
"I'm a football player and just love the game. I'm willing to play any chance I can," he said. "This spring I feel more comfortable knowing the plays and everything. It should be a great experience."
McFarland also talks about the changes he made in the off-season, what Coach Vaas brings to the unit, becoming more physical, and more.
USF QB Matt Floyd wants to show the coaches what he can doUSF red shirt freshman quarterback Matt Floyd has been getting a lot of reps this spring, and is fighting for the No. 2 spot with junior Bobby Eveld. Floyd has been working hard this off-season, is gearing up for Friday's scrimmage and is hoping to make his mark.
"I'm excited, it's our first live period, and I just want to come out, be comfortable and show the coaches what I can do," said Floyd. "Our jobs are to keep pushing each other."
"Fresh out of high school I didn't know exactly what I was doing," he admitted. "Now I have a really good grasp of the playbook and I can just go out there and have confidence going to the line of scrimmage, knowing what my reads are, knowing progressions and being able to throw the ball in a spot."
"in the Fall I had trouble with accuracy, and coach Fitch says the key to accuracy is good footwork, so we've been working from our feet up," said Floyd. "I want to continue to get more comfortable, more confident and more vocal around the guys, and become more of a leader."
