USF Sling & Shoot: Day 2 Notes & Standouts

After competing for two days, the USF Sling & Shoot 7-on-7 tournament came down to close with Plant winning the coveted title. Read on for day two's notes, observations and top performers.

After competing for two days, the USF Sling & Shoot 7-on-7 tournament came down to a final four teams of Plant, Armwood, Charlotte, and Dunbar.  Charlotte had a great tourney, but ran out of gas against a seasoned Plant team. It looked like it was going to be a final of Tampa power houses. That was until the surprise of the tourney Dunbar upset Armwood in the semi finals.

Dunbar had a fantastic run led by Johnell Barnes and company, but came up short against Plant, who is one of the best 7-on7 teams out there 29-12. Plant Quarterback Aaron Banks threw four touchdown passes, two to Derek Mann, one to Tristan Cooper, and the last one to K.J. Wells. Joshnell Barnes reeled in two highlight reel touchdown passes for Dunbar's two scores.

Other teams that had good weekend showings: Sebring who lost to chamberlain 9-13, The Plant 2 team who lost 15-22 to Armwood.

Who wins the tourney is great but all the good stuff has to deal with the athletes that participated. With that in mind here's my player notebook and who stood out during Sunday's action.
