USF in top 3 for TE Taylor Marini

Lake Mary Tight End Taylor Marini has been busy taking visits the past two weeks and was one of the many top prospects at the USF SuperBull this past weekend. The 6'4, 230 pound tight end talks about the camp, his leaders and when he's going to make his choice.

Oveido tight end Taylor Marini has been busy taken unofficial visits to his top choices, and this Saturday made another trip to Tampa to participate in the USF SuperBull.

"The camp was great" said Marini. "It just felt real good to be able to come out here to compete. It was great to see Coach Vaas and Coach Holtz again and I really enjoyed being here."

The 6-foot-4, 230 pound tight end just got back from a road trip seeing Minnesota and Rutgers, and didn't arrive back in Florida until late, so he wasn't 100 percent for the camp, but still competed.

"I had an average performance today," said Marini. "I got in late last night from my visit to New Jersey to see Rutgers and it wasn't until about 4 a.m. that I got to sleep, so I was feeling it today."

The USF staff was aware of his travel plans, and was just happy to have him at their camp.

"The coaches understood and gave me a lot of words of encouragement, and just told me to do what I can," said Marini. "But I still enjoyed being out here. It was great."

The Oveido standout, who has 8 offers from South Florida, Rutgers, Louisville, Memphis, Minnesota, FIU, Temple, UCF, has narrowed his list to three schools he's choosing from.

"USF, Rutgers, and Minnesota are my top three," said Marini. "They have the best opportunity for me and I like the environment at all three."

Marini talked about what keeps USF among the top of his list.

"USF has a lot to offer, it's in the state of Florida, Coach Holtz is really a class act and I really like Coach Vaas. We love the facilities they have here, and it's USF, they're a big time school."

After taking eight visits over the past month, Marini said he has one more to make before he takes a break and then wants to make his decision.

"I'm going to take an unofficial to UCF this week on Monday," said Marini. "After that I'm going to go on vacation then sit back, go over things with my family and discuss what the best choice for me."

Marini said he plans on making his decision soon after that.

"I plan on making my choice in the next couple of week, definitely before the season," said Marini. "It's going to be hard, but I'm looking forward to it."
