Nate Willis, a top JUCO defensive back at Arizona Western has committed to USF following a campus visit on Thursday.
"Yes sir I committed to USF and feel great about it," said Willis. "I just love everything about it."
The 6-foot-1, 180 pound defensive back had offers from South Florida Ole Miss, Arizona State, and Nevada, Kansas State, Iowa State, Kansas, Indiana, Mississippi State, Memphis, New Mexico, Louisiana-Lafayette, and South Alabama, but ultimately picked the Bulls.
"I really love the coaching staff, Coach Rick Smith and Coach Wingate are great, and Coach Holtz came in and sealed the deal," said Wingate. "Everything was great, the campus is beautiful and the facilities are awesome."
Willis visited USF last Friday, then made a return trip to meet with Coach Holtz today.
"Meeting with Coach Holtz was great, he's a great guy. They gave me the number I wanted and next year I'll be wearing No. 7 for South Florida," said Willis. "The school is great, the students are great, and there are a couple of people I know here. I'm actually with Chris Dunkley right now. He's excited and I'm excited that I'm going to be a Bull!"
Now that he committed to Coach Holtz, Willis said his commitment is firm.
"Everything is solid," said Willis. "A few people asked about me being a soft verbal, but that's not the case I'm solid."
Willis plans on being a December graduate and said he doesn't plan on taking any other visits.
"I think I'm done," said Willis. "I think I'm done and excited with my choice. I'm going to try and make big things happen in the USF secondary!"
As a freshman this past season, Willis recorded 31 tackles with three interceptions and two pass break-ups. He also had a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. Willis also scored off of a kick return. Not too bad for a guy who's been out of football for several years.
