First Coast cornerback Darius Whitty, who committed to USF after the SuperBull camp, played his first game of 2012 this past weekend gave. The 6'1, 173 pound defensive back talks to USFNation about his first game and how he feels about his USF pledge now.
Darius Whitty, a 3-star prospect at First Coast HS has spent the summer working hard while getting ready for the season.
"I actually worked on everything," said Whitty. "I focused mostly on my strength, gaining weight, and on my press coverage
The First Coast standout played his first game of the season this past weekend, beating Bolles 29-16.
"We did alright and won the game," said Whitty. "But we can and will get better."
The 6-foot1, 173 pound defensive back said he wasn't really tested but thought he played well.
"I did alright," said Whitty. "I didn't see a lot of action and only had like 3 tackles. They only threw on me once, but I broke it up."
Whitty committed to USF after their SuperBull camp in June and said how he feels about his USF pledge now that it's been a few months.
"I feel fantastic about it. I still think it is a great school and I'm very happy with my choice," said Whitty. "They have a great program, a great staff, and they keep doing things to go forward. I loved the campus and the facilities and they keep getting better. USF is something I want to be a part of."
Whitty said a few schools are still pursuing him, but he feels solid with his choice.
He hasn't been to USF since his commitment, but is planning on heading over to Tampa to check a game.
"Yes, I'll probably be able to make it to the Florida State game," said Whitty. "That should be a real good time."
