The Bulls are making a strong push with the local talent and today Freedom's Nate Godwin, a local defensive back prospect visited USF visited today.
"It was great. The locker rooms were really nice, built a better relationship with Coach Smith and Coach Fitch. I'm starting to fall in love with that school."
The 5-foot-11, 180 pound defensive back said why he's feeling the love.
"Basically it's just how bad I'm wanted, early playing time, and the upcoming of the program with Skip Holtz," said Godwin.
The Freedom prospect said he's formed a better relationship with the coaches and that's important
"I just learned more about the program. I Learned about the coaches individually, and they learned more about me."
"Coach Smith is a great guy that keeps everything straight forward with me. Smith says he really wants me and will wait for me. But will be happy wherever I decide to go. He said I could play as early as my freshman year."
Godwin got to see the Bulls brand new locker room and was very impressed.
"The locker rooms are crazy nice. The nicest locker rooms I've seen. The green under glow is cool and makes it great," said Godwin. "It's just everything you would ever want in a locker room, spacious, new and everything is really nice about it."
Godwin talked about how the visit affected how he feels about the hometown team.
"I have always felt great about then, but it definitely pushed them more towards the top," said Godwin. "Relationship with coaches and playing time means a lot to me."
The Freedom standout has 14 offers and had a top 3, but said it's a two-team race now.
"It's pretty much a top two," said Godwin. "It's USF and West Virginia."
Godwin said what keeps USF and WVU up there for him.
USF - "It's a great school, close to home, my relationship with the coaches, and early playing time."
WVU – "I have a good relationship with Coach Slaughter, conference play, and program tradition."
He's been to USF many times but wants to see West Virginia before deciding and said when he's supposed to see WVU.
"I haven't set a date yet," said Godwin. "I have to take the ACT on Sept. 8th first."
As to when he'll choose his school, Godwin says he has no firm decision date.
"I'm not sure," said Godwin. "Probably after I take my visits, but nothing is set."
