Bulls QB B.J. Daniels earns Big East Honor

USF quarterback B.J. Daniels earned a spot on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll following his monster performance on Saturday. The Bulls senior came to play and had 387 total yards of offense with 3 touchdowns in the 31-27 loss at Ball State.

Bull's junior quarterback B.J. Daniels was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his performance against Ball State on Monday.

This was another solid performance by the Bulls quarterback who finished with 387 yards of total offense with 3 touchdowns in the 31-27 loss. The USF senior completed 19 of 30 passes for 312 yards with three passing scores and also had 75 rushing yards on 14 carries. The game was vintage Daniels as he used his elusiveness to get out of sure sacks, buy time with his legs and make key throws, he did thrown two interceptions but they both came on the final plays of each half.  Daniels threw two TD to Lindsey Lamar (29, 15) and a 19-yarder to Andre Davis,

Daniels also led the Bulls on a late 99-yard scoring drive to take a 27-24 lead with 4:12 to play, almost completing another incredible comeback.

 The Bulls were behind 19-24 when Daniels stepped onto the field in the fourth quarter then was facing a 3rd and 12 on his own 29 yard line. B.J. scrambled, eluded a tackle and hit Terrence Mitchell for a 21-yard pass and a first down. Facing another 3rd and 10, Daniels found Derrick Hopkins for an 18-yard catch to Ball State 32. After two holding penalties pushed the Bulls back to its 47-yard line and a 2nd and 31, Daniels hit Murray for 24 yards. Then found Lindsey Lamar, who took the catch for the 29-yard score for a 25-24. Demetris Murray had a 2-point conversion to make it 27-24.

The lead was short lived as Ball State drove the field and took a 31-27 lead with just over a minute remaining.

Daniels almost led the Bulls on a second comeback of the night.  With 1:01 to go and only one time out, The Bulls started deep on thei9r own territory on the 13 yard line and 87 yards to go.  B.J. scampered for 12 yards, completed passes of 25 and 22 yards down to the Ball State 27. Then with 11 seconds left, a miscommunication with receiver Terrence Mitchell on the sideline.

The Bulls host No. 4 Florida State next week.
