USF hosting Bulls Basketball Hoopla on Friday

Bulls basketball fans will get their first look at the 2012-13 squads as USF hoops will host their first-ever Bulls Basketball HoopLa. The night will feature skills competitions, while fans can interact with the two USF hoops squads and win some great prizes at the same time. The event will take place from 8-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 at the newly renovated Sun Dome.

Hoops fans it's getting that time of the year when teams host midnight madness, an annual event on that celebrates the first day in mid-October when teams can hold their first practice of the season.

These types of events are effective tools for program to raise hype and showcase their programs success. It's also a great opportunity for schools, their fans and their current team to sway recruits.

This year Bulls fans will get their first look at the 2012-13 squads as USF hoops will host their first-ever Bulls Basketball HoopLa, which will take place from 8-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 at the newly renovated Sun Dome.

"We're all excited about the Hoopla event Friday at 8 o'clock,"said Head coach Stan Heath. "We want to get as many students and members of the community that we can."

It's not actual midnight madness, but it will be Midnight Madness-esque, as Bulls fans get to kick the new season by getting to know and interact with the two USF hoops squads and win some great prizes at the same time.

There will also be some skills competitions between the men's and women's teams and Coach Heath said there will be some surprises as well and hopes it becomes a tradition at USF.

"We got some surprises and some interesting things planned," said Heath. "I'm not going to spoil the surprise, but it should be a fun night

Orlando from Wild 94.1 and 98.7 and Jim Lighthall, the voice of USF men's basketball, will co-host, while rapper Roscoe Dash is set to perform during the event. Fans will also be treated to performances from the USF cheerleaders, the Sun Dolls and Rocky.

Free food will be provided to USF students starting at 7:50 p.m. in the brand new student club at the Sun Dome. 

"I think the students will really get into what we're doing," said Heath "I'm hoping it becomes a tradition here."
