"Yes sir, I just committed to USF," said Jones. "I feel very good about my decision."
The Saint standout received the USF offer after participating in the Jacksonville satellite camp and then after thinking things over, decided to pull the trigger.
"I called Coach Sheridan and told him I wanted to commit, then I talked to DB Coach Cooper and then to coach Taggart," said Jones. "They were very excited and they all welcomed me to the Bull family."
"I chose them because of the coaches and it's a great school," said Jones. "It's also close to home, and I fit in very well with the program."
Besides being close to home, Jones said the staff and the schools academics played a big role in his choice.
"The coaching staff is great, and they all are very good coaches who strive for success. They also showed me a lot of love," said Jones. "The school is beautiful and they are a great academic fit for me."
Sandalwood Head coach Adam Geiss thinks the Bulls are getting a lock down corner in Jones.
"He's just a shutdown corner," said Coach Geiss. "He runs a 4.49 on grass and he's long, with long arms and a long reach. With his wingspan, he makes it very hard for kids to get off the line on him with his bump. That's why he's a perfect corner."
Along with being a great football player, Geiss said Jones is a great student with a high character.
"He's a 3.0 student, and scored an 18 on his ACT," said Geiss. "He's never been in an ounce of trouble and is the complete package. "
Geiss said a lot of schools were on Jones, and even thought he liked a lot about the Bulls, one thing that what stood out was the attention they were paying to him.
"He had a lot of schools on him, but when you're talking to a lot of hot girls, you pick who likes you the most," said Geiss. "They showed him a lot of attention from the get-go, and that was big. I think he's in great hands with the staff at USF and it's a perfect fit for both."
