With the USF starting quarterback still undecided, the battle is one of the hottest topics this cam. After one week, coach Taggart says the two veterans Bobby Eveld and Matt Floyd, are ahead of the learning curve.
With B.J Daniels graduating last spring and moving on to the NFL, the quarterback situation at USF is one of the hotter topics surrounding the Bulls this offseason. The Bulls return two veteran quarterbacks this year with senior Bobby Eveld
and sophomore Matt Floyd
, while adding Penn State
transfer Steven Bench
and freshman Mike White
. While the newcomers are making great strides in USF's new pro-style offense, Willie Taggart
so far has gave the nod to the veterans, Eveld and Floyd, based on their familiarity running that kind of offense.
"You can tell that Bobby and Matt have been exposed to the offense," Taggart said. "They understand what we're doing a lot better than Mike and Steven. But when Steven and Mike know exactly what to do, you can see why they can be really effective. It's just a matter of learning the system and how fast they can learn the system and not be afraid to make mistakes here early."
With almost three weeks away from the Bulls opening season square off against McNeese State, nothing is firmly in place behind center. Expect a very competitive second half of August, with all four gun slingers trying to inch pass each other to take the reigns over from 49ers rookie and former South Florida Bull, B.J Daniels
