"Well, when we played Tampa Catholic, I played very good," Black said. "I had three sacks, six tackles, with one of those tackles being on kickoff. It was all because of our teamwork and coaching staff."
Providing great size at linebacker, but also versatile enough to put his hand in the dirt at the next level at defensive end, schools are coming vigorously for the Sickles standout, with the hopes of getting Josh's signature on National Signing Day.
"I have offers from Arizona, Marshall, Iowa State, Utah State, Bowling Green, FIU, South Florida, Minnesota and a couple more," Black stated. "Tennessee is showing me a lot of interest, but haven't offered me yet."
The pipeline between USF and the local Tampa prospects has continued to grow with the addition of cornerback Mazzi Wilkins, who gave his pledge to Coach Taggart last week. Black has noticed and has been keeping track of everything going on in his hometown.
"Yeah, I've been taking notes on who's leaving and who's staying," Black said. "I like their facilities and the coaching staff they have, they're good. They're recruiting me as a linebacker."
While many of the schools Black is considering aren't residing in the Sunshine State, it can be difficult setting up visits and the itinerary during the hectic football season. Not entirely sure what exact dates he'll be traveling, Josh does have an idea what schools he'll be taking a few of his officials visits to this Fall.
"I have to take a visit to Arizona, Marshall, and FIU," Black stated. "I don't have dates set up yet. I have to get with the coaches to set them up."
Accumulating close to a dozen offers, Josh currently has a list of top schools he's considering with a timetable he has in mind to make his decision also.
"I've got Arizona, Marshall, USF, FIU, and Utah State as my favorites," Black said. "Those are in no particular order. Hopefully I'll make my decision before the season ends or during midseason."
The school Josh picks to hone up his football skills will have to provide him with certain thing to receive his signature on February 6th on National Signing Day. Josh tells USFNation.com what that is.
"Yeah, it's going to be the coaching staff," Black added. "Mainly, if they have that family type material, being one family. Distance won't be a factor."
As a junior, the talented linebacker prospect finished the season with 12 sacks and 30 quarterback pressures.
