Hard-Hitting Junior DB Offered By USF

Not relatively known through many recruiting services, Norland High School in Miami has a head-hunter roaming their secondary with junior defensive back, Carlton Davis. Davis recently picked up his first offer this past week and USFNation.com caught up with him for the latest.

A name that several people should start getting familiar with is Carlton Davis. Davis, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back, stars in the secondary as a junior at Norland High School in Miami.

All of the hard work and dedication paid off this past week when the hard-hitting Davis snagged his first offer of many to come when the South Florida Bulls gave him a call to inform him of the astounding news.

"Coach (Telly) Lockette was the one who offered and called me on the phone," Davis said. "I do have interest in them because they're my first offer and I like the team - it's a good program, and it's in Florida."

As for visits, Davis has hopes of getting up the Bulls campus in the near future to learn more about coach Willie Taggart's program.

"I want to take a visit to USF, but we haven't really talked about that right now," Davis said. "They're in the middle of the season, so I think we'll talk more after the season to see when we can plan a visit."

When Davis plans to make a decision, a trio of factors will guide the rangy defensive back to his decision.

"Playing time, academics, and their NFL rate," Davis said.

Aside from the Bulls offer, Davis is receiving interest from Miami (Fl) and Georgia.
