Tate Earns Coveted First Offer

On Friday, Tampa Wharton junior wide receiver Auden Tate picked up his coveted first scholarship offer from the South Florida Bulls and USFNation.com caught up with Tate for the latest.

It will be a day to remember for Tampa (Fla.) Wharton junior wide receiver Auden Tate. On Friday, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Wharton standout earned his first scholarship offer from the school in his backyard, the South Florida Bulls.

"I got my first offer from USF," Tate told USFNation.com.

The rangy receiver has helped guide Wharton to a 6-1 record and receiving his first offer was a relief for the physical pass catcher.

"They called me down from lunch and told me they offered," Tate said. "I'm just really happy that all that hard work paid off. Great standing for USF being the first. I'm just waiting on more now."

Which Bulls coach informed the local Tampa product of the tremendous news?

"Coach (David) Reeves," Tate said.

Through six games as a junior, Tate has caught 29 passes for 461 yards and four touchdowns. Wharton hosts the nearby 3-3 Tampa Alonso Ravens this evening at 7:00.
